Darshan Magazine Over the weekend a big pile of Darshan: In the Company of the Saints booklet-magazines unexpectedly fell out of the sky and into my lap.
One-hundred fifty issues of Darshan Magazine were published by Gurumayi's organization, the SYDA Foundation, from Spring 1987 to late 1999. Each issues was devoted to a single topic, with a few double issues and several where a topic was split to span two issues. I have gathered what information I could find and I have created a list of Darshan issues by number and topic, along with a few links to where some may be purchased. Darshan is beautifully designed, expensively produced, and artfully illustrated — and it is worth a look. Just reading through the list of topics is inspirational, and most resonate with familiar Course themes. Subscribe to the ( Click Here Now ) ACIM Weekly Reader | God Alone?Aloneness or Oneness? Not every topic covered by an issue of Darshan Magazine (see left sidebar) resonated with me as being consistent with the teachings of A Course in Miracles. In fact, a few of them hit me as being mostly at odds with my understanding of the Course. Starting from Jean-Paul Sartre's 1944 play No Exit, and his most famous quote, "Hell is other people," I briefly compare Advaita Vedanta's quest for ultimate Aloneness with the Course's advocacy for togetherness, equality and complete Oneness. There may be thousands of old copies of Darshan Magazine laying around in the New York area on dusty bookshelves or in boxes. Now might be a good time to wipe off the cobwebs and pass those cherished treasures on to someone else, to the benefit of all. Rev. Deb BrownCurrent events got you down? Just do the two-step! Just about everywhere you go and in every conversation there is likely to be some doom and gloom about the economy, politics, prices, health, etc. We hear it everywhere and sometimes, we even repeat it back to those that speak it and thereby support that energy of pain and sorrow or drama. We think that if we commiserate with everyone and join with them in the experience that somehow we are supporting our friends. What we are left with is a communion of sadness that really does not feel better just because we are together in it. In my profession, I get the chance to join the "Doom & Gloom Club" with almost every conversation. Being a student of Truth principles, I also get to change the direction of the conversation . . . . Greg MackieDoes the Course imply that we have three selves? — Question: Would it be fair to say that A Course in Miracles implies that we have three selves (only one of which is real): Answer: My short answer is that the Course only depicts a) and b) in your scenario: our true Self and our false self, the ego. And as you mention, only our true Self is real. Though many Course students speak of a third entity that decides between the two (Ken Wapnick calls it the "decision maker"), I've never found any reference in the Course to this third entity. The "I" who asked your question is a real Son of God, a part of the true Self we all share, who has fallen asleep and now falsely believes he is an ego with a particular body and personality, yet retains the memory of his true Identity . . . .
